Monday Quotes #10

“He may be going into first grade, but I’m still the boss of him.” Kami at  The Fence: A working mom’s blog.

They grow up so fast don’t they? So many moms get all teary eyed over the end of infanthood, toddlerhood, pre-schoolerhood and childhood. I have to confess, first, I’m not a crier, and second, I’m looking forward to the end of toddlerhood in our house.

The only thing I’m worried about is how much longer I get to be the boss of them. I’m barely the boss of them now but at least I’ve got the size, strength, and speed advantage. It won’t last forever. At some point I’m going to have to come up with some new advantages to maintain my boss-hood.

About dirtyrottenparenting

I'm a parent of two lovely (most of the time) children. I work full time out of the home and I don't cook well, bake, sew, or do crafty things. I keep my high heels and jewelry at my office because there's no point in having them at home.

My son is going into 3rd grade this year and my ‘boss/upper hand’ seems to be slowly fading. Now we’ve become a warm-up for the debate team 🙂

my daughter is married, has a career and just had her first baby. My son is in medical school. I’m still the boss of them on some level. It doesn’t really ever end unless you let it and you really shouldn’t even when they’re physically bigger. I obviously don’t need to be the “boss” anymore at their ages but they like me to be that sometimes still because I’m still mom no matter how big they get.
