On the 4th Day of Halloween…

On the fourth day of Halloween, my true love gave to me:

  • 4 Shrieking bats;
  • 3 Black Cats;
  • 2 Angry Spiders; and
  • A pumpkin in a  pear tree.

I must admit, I am not a fan of bats. The whole idea of flying rodents in the dark is extremely creepy. Which makes them excellent for Halloween. I wonder if we can dig up some audio files of shrieking bats? Or just shrieking in general? Hmmm… the idea has merit!

About dirtyrottenparenting

I'm a parent of two lovely (most of the time) children. I work full time out of the home and I don't cook well, bake, sew, or do crafty things. I keep my high heels and jewelry at my office because there's no point in having them at home. I love Mondays because I can return to the world of adults, go to the bathroom alone and have nearly uninterrupted conversations with others.

    Halloween … it’s coming to Australia … it actually concerns me a bit! http://pontificators.wordpress.com/halloween-in-australia/
    BUT. I hope you guys have a fantastic time of it!!!

    • Resist if you will… but there’s nothing that a capitalist society loves better than a highly marketable & profitable holiday!

        Agreed! But it isn’t a holiday here. It is an uncomfortable mix of a small minority being involved while the majority resist. The result is a handful of kids being walked around the street and being told to ‘rack off’ by home owners who object to costumed children asking for food. There aren’t any social conventions around it … two supermarkets have decided that this will help sales!

  2. My parents have the little brown bats in their house. Because the bats are endangered, they can’t even kill them. They have to put them in a “bat” can-a coffee can that my mom covered with batman stickers, and take them into the country and set them free. I’m sure they come right back to the house! I have mice in my house and honestly, I’ll take those mousies any time over those bats! My take on rodents, flying and otherwise:

    Bleee-yech! Bats. I concur on the flying rodents in the dark thought. Interesting fact: a friend of mine just informed me the other day that one of her neighbors in town had to deal with a pet dog that got rabies – from a bat that was flying at night.
