On the 9th Day of Halloween…

I’ll get you my pretty!

On the ninth day of Halloween, my true love gave to me:

  • 9 Witches chanting;
  • 8 Vampires biting;
  • 7  Dancing Skeletons;
  • 6 Smoking Cauldrons;
  • 5 Gravestones;
  • 4 Shrieking bats;
  • 3 Black Cats;
  • 2 Angry Spiders; and
  • A pumpkin in a  pear tree.

When I was on maternity leave for the first time, I watched Charmed every morning, usually while nursing. It fit right into one of those many parts of my day where I pretty much had to just sit there. My mat leave coincided with the time when the reruns had started cycling through from the beginning so I actually got to see most of them in order – a rare occurrence for me with any tv show.

I’ve seen a lot of witches in movies and television over the years, the good, the bad, the beautiful and the ugly. There was Sabrina, the Charmed ones, the witches from OZ, the Witches from Eastwick, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty and one played by Sandra Bullock although the name of the movie escapes me.

Which witches do you remember?

About dirtyrottenparenting

I'm a parent of two lovely (most of the time) children. I work full time out of the home and I don't cook well, bake, sew, or do crafty things. I keep my high heels and jewelry at my office because there's no point in having them at home. I love Mondays because I can return to the world of adults, go to the bathroom alone and have nearly uninterrupted conversations with others.

  1. We were big into all of the fairy tales when I was a kid so I think of the classics like the witch in Hansel and Gretel, and the Disney witches.

    You already know of my love for the Harry Potter movies. I love the fact that witches weren’t all gross and ugly like I grew up believing. A while back I think it was the Hallmark channel had the “Good Witch” TV movies which we all loved.

    Love your witch picture aka Ann Coulter (I had to laugh because that’s the same one I used in my post the other day!)

  2. Country Girl says:

    The one with Sandra Bullock must be Practical Magic – with Nicole Kidman? Loved that one!

    Top of my list is definitely the Harry Potter movies! Hmmm – which other witches? Obviously the Wizard of Oz gals, the gals from Hocus Pocus, The Witches of Eastwick, ladies from The Craft, Sabrina, Willow from Buffy the Vampire Slayer (a personal fave), ummmm…..The Blair Witch and then there’s the movie The Crucible – but I don’t think it actually has any witches in it – just a remake of the Salem Witch trials. Good movie though!

  3. Practical Magic is one of my all time favourite secret pleasure movies (along with Dazed and Confused). I always wanted Nicole Kidman’s hair… You know Charmed is on Netflix right? Just saying…
