On the 12th Day of Halloween…

On the twelfth day of Halloween, my true love gave to me:

  • 12 Ghosts a spooking;
  • 11 Rats a running;
  • 10 Zombies shuffling;
  • 9 Witches chanting;
  • 8 Vampires biting;
  • 7 Skeletons dancing;
  • 6 Smoking Cauldrons;
  • 5 Gravestones;
  • 4 Shrieking bats;
  • 3 Black Cats;
  • 2 Angry Spiders; and
  • A pumpkin in a  pear tree.

Okay, so to be honest, I felt I needed to include a fairly benign ghost picture after yesterday’s rat horror! I can’t even look at the post, the picture was that creepy!

Out of curiosity, has anyone ever actually seen a ghost? I’m not sure whether or not I even believe they exist, although I am open to the possibility. In another lifetime (single & without children) I stayed in a hostel that was a former prison in Ottawa, Canada. It was supposedly very haunted and I did take the ghost tour so that I’d know which spirits to keep an eye out for. And guess what? I didn’t see, sense, or hear a thing. Oh well.

About dirtyrottenparenting

I'm a parent of two lovely (most of the time) children. I work full time out of the home and I don't cook well, bake, sew, or do crafty things. I keep my high heels and jewelry at my office because there's no point in having them at home. I love Mondays because I can return to the world of adults, go to the bathroom alone and have nearly uninterrupted conversations with others.

  1. Yes! I used to live in a really old, neat house. We had them all over the place. Completely harmless, I don’t think they were necessarily aware of us. We would walk up the stairs and feel something whoosh by us. My mother would wake up and feel presences at night. I saw a transparent woman in the hallway one night, it looked like she was trying to light up an oil lamp. It was so cool. I don’t think the people that lived there since thought it was cool. I noticed they tore down the house just recently. Sad.

    I have always been fascinated by ghosts. My husband gets creeped out. My mom is the one with ghost stories. She has had a lot of experiences from all the places she has lived. And she knows when there are spirits around. I’m bummed because I don’t have her gift!
