Meet the Skeleton Family

The plan:

To go trick or treating around the neighborhood as a family after having our family photo taken. Then return home and hand out candy together.

The reality:

Our poor 2-year-old was so terrified by Daddy’s costume that she ran crying into her room and refused to come out until he was gone. Hence the individual photos which were taken after Daddy took our 4-year-old trick or treating, while Mommy handed out candy and 2-year-old watched Wonder Pets.

About dirtyrottenparenting

I'm a parent of two lovely (most of the time) children. I work full time out of the home and I don't cook well, bake, sew, or do crafty things. I keep my high heels and jewelry at my office because there's no point in having them at home.

  1. Awwww… He does look pretty scary! At least you got individual pictures. Your little skeletons are cuties! ๐Ÿ˜€

  2. Aaww! It’s really hard to plan or anticipate anything with children!

  3. separate or not, you all look fabulous!! and you say you’re not creative…

  4. haha!! That is so funny!! Next year teddy bear costumes for everyone!!!

  5. Great costumes! My youngest was scared by her grandma one year when she was around 2 also and hasn’t liked Halloween since. Hope it works out better for your family:)

  6. sillyliss says:

Oh no!! But you all look SO CUTE! Oh my gosh. I mean, scary. You look so SCARY. No, cute. Cutely scary!

My two-year-old would go up to each doorstep, start crying, then the door would open and she would immediately stop crying and hold out her “purse” in anticipation of her treat. It was weird. Every. House.

  7. I love the family themed costumes! One year, we all went as characters from Beauty and the Beast. My youngest was two at the time and would not stop crying because of my husband’s Beast mask and gloves. Let’s just say, he had to turn into the prince much sooner than he had thought! ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. Hahaha that’s too funny!!! It never really works out like you plan it to with two year olds does it? I had bought a warm and cozy pooh bear outfit for my two year old daughter since we would be in NY and I figured it would be cold (and it was) but she looked at it, frowned and then looked up at me as if I had two heads… “who’s that for mamma?? I’m a princess, thats uglyyyy” there was no way around it!!!!
