This morning on the drive to daycare, my son asked, “Mom, when are we going to decorate? We need to decorate our house for Christmas.”
You may think it’s pretty clear what he wants. Until you find out that we have already decorated the Christmas tree, hung the stockings, and lit up the tree in the front yard. It looks great. It looks classy and coordinated. The tree is a bit on the cheap side, but if you don’t look too closely, it’s more than fine.
I attempted to clarify. “What kind of decorations do you want?”
“We need to decorate our house.”
“With what? What other decorations do you mean.”
“Our house Mommy, we need to decorate it.”
I was at a bit of a loss as to what he really wanted. The last thing I want to do is dig up some tacky, blow up Santa and snowman scene for the front yard.
“Andreas has decorations on his bed. We need to decorate my bed. We need to put lights all over it.”
