Sick Day #2

Well, I’m down to 1 kid again… the little girl was just fine this morning and was hustled off to daycare quickly lest that change.

Today’s sick day is brought to you by the #1 (thank the powers of the universe that only 1 kid is home sick today), and the letter “W” for whining (so far I’m the only one whining but I’m sure the boy will join me before long), and a huge thanks to our sponsor, Apple, for inventing the iPad to entertain the boy.

Because I have only one sicko here today, I’m hoping to drag him off to the library. I’ve been meaning to get a membership and I think I can manage it with only one kid in tow. I plan to get a huge stack of kid’s books to keep him occupied for the day.

It’s a stupid plan though, because I already know it won’t work. He is guaranteed to require me to read each book at least twice.

Maybe the library is the wrong idea. Maybe I’ll go to the dollar store and get a bunch of colouring and activity books… for when the iPad stops holding his attention.

What would you do to keep a sick 4 year old, on his 5th day of being sick, entertained so that you can get some actual work done?

About dirtyrottenparenting

I'm a parent of two lovely (most of the time) children. I work full time out of the home and I don't cook well, bake, sew, or do crafty things. I keep my high heels and jewelry at my office because there's no point in having them at home. I love Mondays because I can return to the world of adults, go to the bathroom alone and have nearly uninterrupted conversations with others.

Oh man, if the ipad doesn’t work, I don’t know what will. Bathtime is fun. I like it because it gives ME time to play on the ipad. Dollar store stuff is a great idea! Other than that, playdoh, movies, uhhhhhh. I hope he feels better very soon!

    • Hmmm… we haven’t had playdoh around here in awhile. That might take care of whole 10’s of minutes! So far Angry Birds is keeping him happy.

Ah, a good physics lesson then! Emilia likes to play with trains and blocks and stuff like that, but really only if I play it WITH her. Movies and ipad: those are (mostly) singleton activities, which I love.

Television! I don’t usually let my kids watch much tv, so when they are sick I let them watch it almost all day. Hope your kiddo is feeling better soon!
