When is Mother’s Day again?

I haven’t been watching a lot of tv lately (we have Netflix) or reading any of your blogs (sorry, the weather has been fantastic) so when I looked at the calendar this morning, I thought, “Damn is it Mother’s Day already?!”

I haven’t really given a thought about what I’d like for Mother’s Day; a new box of red wine maybe. My kids are still pretty little, so going out for breakfast (which I love to do) with the family is not my idea of a good time. For now, I’d just like a whole day where nobody whines and and a meal where I can stay sitting and finish it without having to get up and fetch something or other.

I suppose I should also get on it and mail some cards to my own mom and mom-in-law. I’m still at the beginning stage of mom-hood and they’ve already cleared out their nests. I might feel like I should get an award some days, but they’ve more or less finished the marathon and have graduated to grand-mom-hood; I think they’re entitled to continue collecting mom-cards. I promise, I’ll get my kids right on it!

About dirtyrottenparenting

I'm a parent of two lovely (most of the time) children. I work full time out of the home and I don't cook well, bake, sew, or do crafty things. I keep my high heels and jewelry at my office because there's no point in having them at home. I love Mondays because I can return to the world of adults, go to the bathroom alone and have nearly uninterrupted conversations with others.

I tell my family every year that all I want for Mother’s Day is for them to clean the house. I never get it.

This year, instead of one day of sleeping in, I asked for a week. My husband thought that was pretty hilarious. Mother’s Day Gift Idea Fail!
