Loooooong weekends!

I remember when I used to think that long weekends were not nearly long enough. Now, the regular two-day weekend can feel endless at times.

Fortunately, this past weekend (the Victoria Day weekend in Canada) was just about the right length. We played, we visited with friends, we set up a tent in the basement, we wandered around the neighborhood, we got the youngest child an “okay to wake” clock and got ourselves a few precious extra minutes of sleep.

We also hit a major developmental milestone… well, our son did. He learned to use the remote control, mostly. Once we’ve got the Netflix menu up and the TV on, he can pick his own shows. Which explains why the kids have been so quiet in the basement from time to time.

About dirtyrottenparenting

I'm a parent of two lovely (most of the time) children. I work full time out of the home and I don't cook well, bake, sew, or do crafty things. I keep my high heels and jewelry at my office because there's no point in having them at home.

That is awesome about the clock and the remote. (We have that clock, too, but never figured out how to program it. We just use it as an alarm clock.)

I, too, dread long weekends. By Sunday, we’ve mostly run out of things to do and I’m tired of trying. More often than not, my impatience cracks around noon and the rest of the day is a bust!

  2. Quiet time = happy time, they’re the moments I sneak off and hide! And then I think I can smell smoke or wonder if they’ve killed each other and then well, you know how it goes… End of quiet time!

  3. I loved when my oldest finally figured out how to fully operate the TV/xbox system. I could say, Can you turn the movie on by yourself? and she would! It is great!

  4. That alarm clock is pretty cool.
