The most wonderful time of the year… Halloween!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year,
with kids trick’or’treating,
and everyone yelling, let’s give a cheer
It’s the most wonderful time of the year.
It’s the hap-happiest season of all
With those ghostses and goblins, and gory fake beatings,
When zombies come to call,
It’s the hap-happiest season of all!

I’d rewrite the whole thing but I have to get to work at some point this morning. But how could I not make a little music for my favourite season of the year.

This year the boys (dad and son) will be going as Darth Vader and Anakin Skywalker (or Luke or some random Jedi). The girls (me and little girl) will be princesses, because that’s what my little girl wants and I’m not up for creating an elaborate Amidala outfit and do not yet have the physique for a Leia outfit.

This weekend we will go pick up a load of pumpkins, which my husband will spend every night carving until halloween. Last year we had 13. This year he wants 20. It’s out of control!

Hmm… maybe I’ll put my princess costume on to work today.

About dirtyrottenparenting

I'm a parent of two lovely (most of the time) children. I work full time out of the home and I don't cook well, bake, sew, or do crafty things. I keep my high heels and jewelry at my office because there's no point in having them at home.

  1. I love Halloween! A few years ago we invested in faux pumpkins and carve a new one or two each year. This year I found this Styrofoam hot knife thingy and it’s Awesome (yes, awesome with a capital A!)! Helps carve the pumpkins with minimal mess and strain! I did a double sided one this year, a witch and cauldron is lit up on the front and it casts a shadow of two ghosts on the wall behind it! 🙂 It’s awesome! I hope your husband has fun with his 20 pumpkins! Then there is all the stuff you can make with the pumpkin meat – cookies, pancakes, muffins and more!

Sounds fantastic! (But I’d trim down the sheer volume of pumpkinry going on around there.)

This is seriously my favorite holiday!

You guys should consider growing some giant pumpkins! The hubby did some a few years in a row – they were a massive hit in the neighborhood. Our biggest was around 500 lbs! He had to clean the insides out with a giant paint mixer attached to his drill, and I carved them with a drywall saw.

    • That requires way more forethought and advance planning than I’m willing to summon forth! Besides, we don’t have garden space for a 500lb pumpkin.

Which reminds me, we have pie in the fridge. Gotta go.
