Things are looking up

Well, I’ve been busy. I’ve landed a job, found before and after school care for my son, and most importantly… finally shaved my legs!

Now that I’m returning to the fabulous world of work, professional clothing, high heels and make up, I decided to pull my head out from under the pile of dirty laundry and see what’s been going on in the world around me.

Apparently there’s some feminist movement going on that’s all about “leaning in.” It sounds like it’s all about taking leadership in the workplace, home, and school environments. That just sounds like a lot of extra work to me. I’m not the only one who’s not so keen on filling my life with super powered accomplishments.

Here’s an article responding to the “lean in” movement

I’d love to hear what you think about all of this!

About dirtyrottenparenting

I'm a parent of two lovely (most of the time) children. I work full time out of the home and I don't cook well, bake, sew, or do crafty things. I keep my high heels and jewelry at my office because there's no point in having them at home.

  1. Yeah, I can’t get read the entire article, it’s way too long! But, I’m proud to say that several years ago I made a career move and it’s helped me restore balance in my life. And every year I look at my life and make sure I have balance. I’m very blessed to work for a guy that is very family friendly and wants all of us to put our family first.

“Balance” is becoming a buzz word that is starting to gnaw at me. I am a supporter of everything the Lean In movement is about but I found myself shaking my head in agreement, through out this entire article. I tried to just skim it if I’m being honest but she kept hitting on thoughts I’ve had myself.

  3. Congrats on the new job! But ugh – – so must you wear the high heels to work? It’s like “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie” right?
“If you wear high heels to work, then you must shave your legs. If you shave your legs, it’s only right you should wear a skirt. If you wear a skirt, then you must find a blouse. Finding a blouse that matches will take you 45 minutes and you’ll notice it has a spot on the collar. Washing the spot will snag your new manicure so you’ll need to hunt down a nail file…..

oy, oy, oy…. I think I’ll stop here and blog about this little tale tomorrow. lol. Walk proud in those heels!
