Don’t say “stupid” stupid

In our house, we have this fabulous little disciplinary tool we like to call the “whining medicine.” We’ve also expanded its uses to cover “not listening” and “crying.” It works on our kids like a charm. Intrigued? You should be.

Now go read this post and then come back.

Did you read it yet? Yes? No? Well, moving along…

The other day one of the kids introduced the word “stupid” into our house during an argument with the sibling. In an attempt to cut this off at the pass, my dear husband replied, “Please don’t say stupid or we’ll have to give you the stupid medicine.”

About dirtyrottenparenting

I'm a parent of two lovely (most of the time) children. I work full time out of the home and I don't cook well, bake, sew, or do crafty things. I keep my high heels and jewelry at my office because there's no point in having them at home. I love Mondays because I can return to the world of adults, go to the bathroom alone and have nearly uninterrupted conversations with others.

  1. The whining and crying in our house lately has been making me want to shoot myself in the face. Threats and cough syrup aren’t looking so bad as an alternative.
