My little girl is counting down the days until school starts. She can’t wait. It’s not like she isn’t having fun this summer, because she is. She’s enjoying the various camps she gets to attend every week, she likes swimming in our outdoor pool, she likes playing at playgrounds and picking blackberries (which are literally everywhere around here). She’s an ‘everything is awesome’ sort of kid. However, I think she misses being with her friends all day long at school, so I get it.
My son, on the other hand, says he doesn’t want to go back to school. Although he claims not to be enjoying summer either. Every tiny little mishap is a massive tragedy, each bump and bruise is a catastrophe, but occasionally a fun activity gets the offhand nod of okay-ness. He’s a ‘this is the worst day ever’ sort of kid. I have no idea how we ended up with such an extreme pessimist.
I am looking forward to not shelling out the big bucks for camp every week, so yes, bring on the school year! I ordered school supplies from a company online that will deliver everything to my kids’ classrooms so I don’t even need to dread back to school shopping. School in 34 more days, no problem!
